I apologize for not posting anything since summer! We have had a few glitches, but I think all are fixed now. The children at OBCS have been busy since school started. We had our BACK TO SCHOOL BASH in September, the Oak Brook Fire Department visit in October, our annual Thanksgiving Feast in November and the children did a wonderful job telling the story of Jesus’ birth in song at the Christmas program in December.
It is now January and we are already looking towards Summer and Fall! Enrollment for both Summer and Fall programs start February 1, 2012. This Summer we will cover the different regions of the world. For example, the desert, the rainforest, the jungle, just to name a few. The teachers are excited about the 2012/13 school year as well. We hope to see many old and new faces at OBCS!

Special Event
We are into our fourth week of Summer Camp and the children are having a blast! Our first Special Event of the summer was a day to celebrate Dads. Mr. Joe flipped pancakes for all. What a yummy way to start the day!

We had our first Bike Day, with two more to come! The children cannot wait for that!
Today Mrs. Jackson came in to talk to the children about diversity. She had many examples of how things can look different, but still be the same. She brought in many different types of potatoes…orange, red, brown, white, blue and purple, they were all different colors, yet they were still all potatoes! She read a story about how we all look different, but were are all people. The children enjoyed her visit.

Thanks to all who attended our Ice Cream Social last night. Our teachers each designed their own visor for the occasion, then put on an apron and gloves to serve ice cream to their students and families.

A Little Whipped Cream Please

Mrs. Schaper Wears Her King's Kid Creation
The teachers enjoyed some time visiting with parents and kids too.

Fancy Meeting You Here
Students got a kick out of seeing their teachers in a different light.

Who Wants Ice Cream?
Parents, children and visitors all got to build their own sundae. There was even enough ice cream for seconds. What a treat!

More? You Want Some More?
Many enjoyed a game in which the kids had to identify eighteen pictures and tell their parents where they were located in the school building. Lots of people participated and a few claimed to identify all eighteen. We teachers didn’t do as well.

We hope that parents and children will continue to enjoy the special events planned for them each year and tell others to join in the fun. Thanks to the teachers for all their hard work in preparing for these events. Soon it will be graduation time and our Last Hurrah event is already planned. Please join us for more fun together in May and June.

Marching Celebration
School started today with a loud and boisterous march in celebration of St. Patrick’s day. The kids had a great time making music with their rhythm instruments. A treat was discovered in the pot of gold that has decorated the school this week. Each child had a chance to get a treat for each hand to take home at the end of the day.
