Fall Activities

Posted by: m.martinson  //  Category: Kid's Quotes

Two of our little girls were exchanging tales about the activities their families have participated in this fall.  Each one had to top the other with her adventure.  Finally one said “I loved apple picking.  It is the funnest of all.”  The other replied “carrot picking is funner.”

Fun In The Sun

We all had a ride in the hay wagon today.  Mr. Joe drove us around the property to see many signs of the fall season.  It was a fun way to end our Fall Festival celebration.  We are looking forward to another family fun event tonight.  Hope to see you at Trunk or Treat right here on the parking lot starting at 7PM.

Scarecrow Becky Reads A Story

Looking strangely like Cowgirl Becky, Scarecrow Becky visited school today to read the Pumpkin Patch Parable to the children.  It’s a story of God’s transforming love that fills each of our hearts with joy.

The Children Enjoyed Scarecrow Becky's Story

Thanks, Mrs. Becky!

We appreciate the people who volunteer to help us give our children little extras along their way to growing and developing.  Tomorrow we plan to have a hayride around the school property.  The hayride will be just one of may fun attractions at tomorrow evening’s TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT here on the parking lot at 7 to 9PM.  Oak Brook Community church invites children to come costumed and to participate in games and activities as we celebrate the end of our Fall Festival.  The public is welcome to join us for an evening of family fun.  Hope to see you there!  Oak Brook Christian School teachers will be looking for you to participate in their games.  We have candy and prizes for all.

SCAVENGER HUNT

Posted by: m.martinson  //  Category: Special Event

Today the children looked high and low for ten signs of our Fall Festival:  pine cones, acorns, squash, a pumpkin, a scarecrow, leaves and a rake, apples, a spiders web, corn and a taffy apple.   There was a lot of excitement during the search as each item was discovered and checked off the list.

Acorns Were Discovered On The Sink.

A Rake and Leaves In The Kitchen

A Spiders Web Was Found At Mrs. Bonnie's Room

Who Is The Real Scare Crow?

Tomorrow we are expecting a visitor who will be reading a special Fall Festival Tale in each classroom.  Can’t wait!

APPLE HUNT

Posted by: m.martinson  //  Category: Special Event

The blustery weather didn’t stop the apple hunt from happening today.

The King's Kids found the hidden apples.

All the children had an opportunity to hunt for apples hidden in the school.  Some were found easily and some required quite a search.  In either case the reward was the same, a delicious apple.  Some children were unable to make it back to their classrooms without tasting their treat.  Others will be taking the apple home to show their family.  We have a  scavenger hunt planned for tomorrow.  We are all enjoying Fall Festival Week!

Cowgirl Becky Leads A Sing-Along

Today begins our week long Fall Festival Event.  Ms. Becky brought some leaves with her as she taught the children a few poems and songs about this colorful season of the year.

Singing Along!

Teachers and children enjoyed the first of several special events planned this week as part of our Fall Festival Week.  We are looking forward to tomorrow’s apple hunt.

BUSY LEARNING AT SCHOOL

Posted by: m.martinson  //  Category: FYI

Can you believe it, we have been in school for over a month now.  The kids are settling into the routines of the classroom and getting to know each other well.  Social skills are being developed each day.  We are enjoying the cooler weather and get outside to exercise those large muscles while the weather permits.  Pretty soon it will take us longer to bundle up for the cold weather than the time we are able to spend outside.  We are looking forward to playing in the snow in just a couple of months.  Fortunately we have a mini gym to use for the bad weather days.  Cognitive skills are growing as we learn about letters and their sounds, numbers and counting, shapes, books, stories and lots more.  Everyone has a chance to hone their language skills by being a good listener and by having the opportunity to talk without interruption.  There are still a few students working to be more settled at school, but that will come in time.  All our students are learning about God and his son, Jesus.  We are happy to be His children and together in this school family.  We miss the children who have moved away to grade schools in the area.  The teachers have fond memories of the time each child has spent here at Oak Brook Christian School.  We are always hoping for a surprise visit from them.
