Group Time

Our students have begun the fall 2010/11 school year.  There is a lot happening in a day at preschool, childcare and kindergarten.  Here are just a few of the things that typically happen:

Group time is when the children get together to hear a story, listen to a lesson and practice the skills they are learning.  Their cognitive, social and language development are addressed daily at group time.

Free Play

There is time for children to make choices about what they would like to play with in the classroom.  Toys and manipulatives are made available to help develop fine motor skills or to reinforce a concept that is being taught.  At the same time, teachers are able to work individually with children to access and address strengths and weaknesses, so a developmental plan for each child can be made.

Children who stay past the preschool hours eat lunch together while honing their social skills and enjoying a time to practice good manners.  The food is nutritious too!

Nap Time

After lunch there is time for rest or sleep.  The children enjoy a story or music in a darkened room.  When nap time is over, everyone gets up for a snack and then participates in an afternoon program of  opportunities to play and learn.
