Special Event
We had a wonderful visit from the Oak Brook Fire Department today. They are one of the many people who need to Know and Follow the Rules. It was fun to learn about firefighting and how important is is to listen and follow directions.

Hose Rolling
We played a game that required listening to directions so the hose would be rolled up properly for the next time it was needed. Hose rolling is a hard job.

Fire Fighting 101
Everyone had an opportunity to knock down the wooden flame target with the fire hose. Thanks to Firefighter Bob, everyone hit the target.

Summer Campers Learn an Important Lesson
We are grateful to the Oak Brook Fire Department for their continued help to educate our children about fire safety. We appreciate your visit Firefighters Bob and George.

Special Event
The weather cooperated for a wonderful time on the back lot on the bikes. Ms. Barb brought us a special Popsicle treat. That was cool and refreshing on a warm summer day. We are looking forward to another opportunity to bring our bikes to school next month. Now we are hoping to have the right weather for a chance to use the sprinklers. Maybe that can happen before the end of the week.

Special Event
Join In & Play is the theme for this week’s fun and excitement. We are hoping the rain does not prevent us from using our bikes and trikes on the back parking lot tomorrow. Each child is invited to bring their own bike to ride. Our other games and activities involve a partnership and cooperation as we learn how to enter into play together. We are learning ideas for starting conversation with new and old friends and anticipating that you just might not hear the answer you were hoping for. We are also learning what to do next. Mr. Bob, a referee, will be here to tell us about playing as a team and what God says about including others in the things we do. Looks like we can all have a good time if we Follow the Rules. That is the title of next s adventures.

Mr. Bob tell the kids how to be a part of a team.

Children play a team game with the help of Mr. Bob.

FYI
We are learning to be good listeners this week. We have three rules to help us Listen & Learn:
1. Keep quiet.
2. Look at the speaker.
3. Think about what you hear.
We have been practicing those rules throughout the days. We have learned to ask questions if we don’t understand and we have practiced being a part of a group and taking turns to speak. We are getting pretty good at listening and following directions because the games we are playing are helping us to practice the skill of being a good listener. Summer camp has been a fun place to be and we hope more friends will be joining us. It’s not too late to sign up and Join In & Play. By the way, that is the theme for next week’s camp.

Learning to Follow Directions

Completing the Task
The children played a game to re-enforce the concept of listening well so they could complete a task correctly. We are discovering the benefits of being a good listener.

Special Visitor to Camp Teaches about Good Listening
Mrs. Ampil, a kindergarten teacher, came to talk to the children about listening to God. She told the story about the disciples who listened to Jesus and followed His directions. They were able to catch a lot of fish that day. It was nice to hear from another teacher about how important it is to listen and learn.

Special Event
It’s the first week of Summer Camp and our theme is Make New Friends.

Secret Handshake
Mrs. Schaper and friend teach the other campers a secret handshake they will be using this summer to greet their friends.

Next Move

And the Next
This week our campers are learning how to make new friends and how to be a good friend. They have read great books about friendship and enjoyed cheering each other on and giving sincere compliments to one another. The games played this week required a lot of cooperation between friends.

Beach Towel and Ball Relay

Everyone Is A Winner
It was great to see some of our older kids helping the new campers feel welcome and comfortable here at school. We are off to a good start with Summer Camp.

Mrs. Friendly Comes for a Visit
Mrs. Friendly came to school today to tell the students how to be a good friend. With her high pitched voice, she gave many examples of how to be a good friend and kind words to say to each other. She shared a treat with her new friends, because friends like to be kind to one another.

Special Event
Our kindergarten students graduated last night. The evenings events featured our little class of 2010. Our four-year-old classes were recognized for completing their program and heading off to kindergarten here next fall or maybe somewhere else.

The Fruit of The Spirit
Each child told how the Fruit of the Spirit was evident in their life. Then they all sang a song about being “bananas” for the Lord.

Bible Verse Recitation Time
Teachers and parents were proud of the students as they recited a verse for each of the letters of the alphabet. The children have developed and grown in so many ways over the school year. We enjoyed the “All Star” program very much. We will miss them all.
Everyone enjoyed a cookie and punch reception after the graduation. Congratulations again to all the graduates.
