Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
Our four-year-old classes are learning from Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales and having lots of fun doing it. Teachers are facilitating acting out some of the scenarios from these well loved poems and stories. Humpty Dumpty served as a good example of cause and effect. Several eggs took a spill to make the point.
The Bunny class made themselves kitten masks and traced themselves a pair of matching mittens to re-enact the story. This matching game was a little tricky because the “kittens” could only find the mitten that matched the one they had in their own hand. It’s hard not to point mittens out to your friends when you see them. Most were pretty good at keeping the secret.

Two little kittens found their mittens.
Another re-enactment opportunity was with the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. How exciting to break the school rule just once and walk on the table instead of the floor. Children took turns tramping over the troll’s bridge. It was a good thing their teacher was there to give the actors a little helping hand.

Who's that tramping over my bridge?
The Bunnies and King’s Kids all enjoyed their lessons this week.

The school now has a Facebook page. After an independent poll of some of our school families, we have decided to make an effort to keep parents informed their way. We have joined Facebook and are updating it regularly. Please consider becoming one of our fans. We are limiting pictures on that sight, so be sure to check in here to see us in action.

Winner of a framed illustration from book.

Dear Baby Books Author Carol Casey

Clifford The Big Red Dog
Saturday’s Book Fair was fun for all. Children heard a story from the author about how each member of the family had a dance step to teach. The kids were able to dance along with the story as author Carol Casey read one of her books.
Clifford the Big Red Dog made an appearance and family members were able to take a picture to commemorate the event. Mrs. Maureen read a couple of Clifford’s Valentine stories to the kids. Everyone was invited to participate in a scavenger hunt in the children’s department of the store. There was a special prize for each participant.

One of the kid’s was the winner of a framed illustration from Carol’s book. She got to pick her choice of three lovely pictures.
Thanks to all who participated in our fun family event and contributed to the fund raiser. We appreciate your support and enjoyed your company on Saturday. Let’s do it again sometime!

Science Mom Visits Classroom
The Bunny classroom had time today to work on an experiment with one of the children’s moms. She gave children an opportunity to blow up a balloon with a straw and then watch it propel across a price of string. Some attempts were successful and others did not meet the expected outcome. The experiment gave the kids an opportunity to discuss their results and what might have caused a different reaction each time. Everyone had a chance to blow up a balloon and attempt an experiment. It was fun for all the participants and we appreciated our volunteer science mom.

Blowing up the ballon was just half the battle.

Letting go at the end of the countdown was important too.

Teeth Brushing 101
What better way to spend a snowy day than to have a visit from the dental hygienists and learn about keeping our teeth healthy. Visitors from Grove Dental are visiting the kids today. They have demonstrated proper brushing and flossing techniques and talked about healthy snacks. They have explained what happens during a dental exam and now the kids are watching a cute video to reinforce all they have learned.

Learning To Take Care of Our Teeth

Practicing Brushing On A Hippo
The kids really enjoyed their turn to brush the teeth of some colorful guests. Each child was given a bag of dental health supplies to bring home and use.

School Starts With 100 Exercises
Mrs. Munguia had us start the day with 100 exercises just to get us warmed up for the 100 step walk we were about to take to culminate the weeks celebration of 100 days of school. Only the teachers were worn out after the physical activity. The kids were ready for more.
The children stepped on the 100 shoes that had been placed on the floor. They sang their 100 days song. These fun events helped the children hone their math skills by counting individual shoes and also by groups of ten. Everybody got to take a shoe home today.
