Special Event
It is very quiet up in the school this afternoon. The children are resting after our big Thanksgiving Feast. Several of the children’s parents joined us for a wonderful school- cooked turkey and the trimmings lunch. The staff of Oak Brook Christian School and Oak Brook Community Church enjoyed serving our guests. After all the excitement and great food the children are all napping and the teachers are wishing they could. Parents, kids and some church members have donated hats, mittens and scarves to bless the children in a Head Start program in McCreary County, Kentucky. The children brought their gifts to the feast and hung them on our traditional clothesline. Soon the gifts will be transported to the kids in Appalachia who need them. We are all happy to have had the opportunity to celebrate the blessings of God together.

Little Lambs hang their gifts on the clothesline.

Special Event
Some children have already brought in their donation of hats, mittens and scarves for the children of a Head Start program in McCreary County, Kentucky. This Tuesday we will have a grand turkey feast and hang those donations on a special clothesline. Early in December our gifts will make their way to Kentucky. We are thankful for those from Oak Brook Community Church who are also giving to the Appalachian children. One kind lady knitted more than a dozen scarves from her left over yarn. We are expecting a similar donation of caps this week.

FYI
Mrs. Munguia and the kindergarten parents have made appointments to discuss the first quarter development of the All Star students. The kindergarten class is receiving their first official report card. Mrs. Munguia and individual parents will be discussing progress and strategies for helping each student reach their potential.
Parents of preschool children will meet with their child’s teacher this week also. Their appointments have been made to discuss the social and emotional development of their child. Opportunity to discuss cognitive, motor skill and spiritual development will come just after the first of the year. Conferences between parents and teacher are a wonderful benefit to each child as information is exchanged that will support the natural growth and development of the children.
Parents, if you haven’t signed up for your conference, it’s not too late.
